Born in Hollywood, and raised by a radical, Black Panther-supporting mother and a charismatic, trombone-playing father, I grew up surrounded by musicians, actors, conspiracy theorists, political fund-raisers, jazz jams, and lots of alcohol-fueled parties.

But at thirteen I was lonely and longing for love, and found what would fill the void; it was the one thing I would pursue with all my heart. 

It wasn't a pony.

It was Warren Beatty.

I vowed to have him in my life forever. I wasn’t naive and this wasn’t a fantasy. I had a solid plan. 

And the first step in this plan was to grow up.
